
In any case, difficulty also affects enemy aggressiveness as well as health. Not sure where "MVS" falls on the scale of things. The choices are Easy, Normal, Hard, and MVS. The arcade ROM can also be flipped into "console" mode, in which case you do get a limited number of continues and the difficulty + lives per continue are set through a proper in-game menu. You can prevent the use of continues, but you can't limit them to some arbitrary number: the intention is that you're buying them with coins, after all. The same menu also lets you toggle blood and a few other minor details. Arcade difficulty is configured from 1 to 8 through the soft DIP menu, and is separate to things such as lives and whatnot.
